About Us

The Swiss Society of Genealogical Studies SSGS (founded in 1933) is a network of researchers who conduct research in Switzerland and about the Swiss.

  • our Information Center knows for which families their is existing research, or which regional research center can further help you. Our Information Center also has a list of Professional Genealogists;
  • in our Book Store, you can find books that help you get started in family research;
  • our Library is housed in the Swiss National Library NL (der Schweizerischen Nationalbibliothek NB). You can view the available books, family chronicles, and genealogical tables in the reading room of the NL or borrow them as a member of SGFF, see link. A CD-Rom of our books is available;
  • our Newsletter keeps you informed about the events of the regional research societies, new releases, random discoveries, etc.;
  • our Yearbook includes research from all parts of Switzerland, in German, French or Italian;
  • our Bi-Annual Meetings provide insights into the archives and history of a specific city or a region of Switzerland.

When can we welcome you as a new member into our ranks?
